Book publishing services for New York authors
New York is where trade publishing lives, and that shapes the decision differently here than anywhere else. Authors in the city are more likely to know someone who works in publishing, more likely to have queried agents, and more likely to be choosing self-publishing after weighing the traditional route rather than instead of considering it.
We do not have a New York office. The work is remote. What is worth saying about New York specifically is not about our service — it is about how close you are to the industry, and what that is and is not worth.
No New York office. Our only office is in Miami, Florida, and every project runs remotely — which is how editorial and design work is normally done, and changes nothing about what you receive.
Publishing events and organisations in New York
Brooklyn Book Festival
Brooklyn, usually September
New York City’s largest free literary festival, running for around twenty years. Roughly 300 authors, a Literary Marketplace with about 250 publishers, and a week of Bookend events across the city.
Agent and editor events across the city
year-round
New York runs more pitch events, panels and industry mixers than any other US city, most of them small and frequent rather than annual and large.
Independent presses
year-round
The city supports a deep small-press scene alongside the major houses — a route worth exploring before self-publishing if your book is literary.
Dates move and conferences fold. Check each event’s own site before booking travel.
What this means for a self-published author in New York
Proximity to the industry is genuinely useful for one thing and misleading for another. Useful: you can meet agents and editors, learn how the trade actually works, and get an honest read on whether your book is commercially viable before spending money on it. Misleading: being near the industry does not make traditional publishing more likely, and a great many New York authors spend years querying because the industry felt reachable. If you have decided to publish independently, the geography stops mattering — and the Brooklyn Book Festival marketplace is one of the better places in the country to put a self-published book in front of readers who buy.
What we do
You keep the rights, the royalties and the byline on all of it — see books we have worked on, each on sale under its author’s own name.
New York questions
- Do you have a New York office?
- No. The only office is in Miami, Florida. All work is remote, which is how editing, design and publishing services normally operate.
- Should I try traditional publishing first, being in New York?
- Being nearby makes it easier to learn how the industry works, not easier to get published — the slush pile does not care where you live. If a trade deal matters to you, query properly and set a time limit before deciding.
- Can I sell a self-published book at New York festivals?
- Yes. The Brooklyn Book Festival’s Literary Marketplace takes independent publishers alongside major ones, and the city’s smaller events are more accessible still. You will need print copies.
