Book publishing services for Florida authors

Florida has an unusually active book-festival circuit and an unusually receptive one for independent authors. Several of the state’s festivals are built around author tables rather than headline panels, which means a self-published book can get in front of readers there in a way that is harder in most states.

We do not have an office in Florida. The work is remote, as almost all editorial and design work is. What is genuinely local is below: where Florida authors actually sell books in person, and the organisation most of them join first.

Publishing events and organisations in Florida

  • Miami Book Fair

    Miami, usually November

One of the largest literary festivals in the United States, running across downtown Miami in three languages. Enormous reader attendance.

  • Sunshine State Book Festival

    Gainesville, usually January

Around 150 authors, and a high proportion of exhibitors are self-published. One of the better regional events in the country for direct sales and visibility as an indie author.

  • Florida Writers Association — Florida WritersCon

    usually autumn

The state writers’ association’s annual conference: workshops, networking and marketing panels. The association itself runs critique groups statewide year-round.

  • Southwest Florida Reading Festival & Venice Book Fair

Fort Myers and Venice, usually spring

Smaller regional festivals with a strong local-author element — realistic first events if you have not exhibited before.

Dates move and conferences fold. Check each event’s own site before booking travel.

What this means for a self-published author in Florida

Florida’s advantage for an independent author is the sheer number of reader-facing events with space for self-published exhibitors, plus a large retired population with time to read and a habit of buying at events. That combination makes print worth taking seriously here even if your book is otherwise ebook-first: a table at a festival needs physical copies, and it is one of the few settings where a self-published author sells face to face at volume. Plan the paperback accordingly, and order stock earlier than feels necessary.

What we do

You keep the rights, the royalties and the byline on all of it — see books we have worked on, each on sale under its author’s own name.

Florida questions

Can I meet the team in person?
Yes. The office is on NE 18th Street in Miami. Most projects run entirely over email and calls because that is what suits most authors, but an in-person conversation is available if you would rather.
Is it worth doing book festivals as a self-published author?
In Florida, more than in most states — several festivals actively welcome self-published exhibitors and draw large reader crowds. It costs a table fee and a weekend, and you will need print stock in hand.
Should I print more copies for events?
Print-on-demand is not built for event stock; you need copies before the event, not after an order. Order a run early, and order more than you think — running out on the second morning is the common complaint.
